Sustainable Viticulture

You have the information, let us help you map it!

For verified sustainable viticulture you must document what happened and where it happened.  A Geographic Information System provides the optimum platform for organizing information and mapping it.  We are in the business of helping organizations document the real world in digital format whether it's beneficial insects, fertilizer applications, mowing or soil condition, we'll help you map it.

And even better, we can set you up with a system that lets you collect information in the field which you can then map for yourself using a convenient browser interface.

Below are some important aspects of sustainable viticulture we can help you map and analyze.  Give us a call or send a message, we'd love to help you out!

Certifiably Speaking....

Design & Landform

If you're in the business of sustainable viticulture, you probably know that Oregon LIVE requires vintners to document and report on a wide variety of conditions and practices in order to be certified sustainable.

The following represents  some of the information that is best collected and mapped for your reports:
  • soil types and measurements
  • frequencies of watering, spading, mowing
  • application frequencies: amounts and types of pesticides and fertilizers
  • beneficial and harmful insects
  • plant type, propagation, date planted
  • vigor change
  • ecological infrastructure
  • and anything else important for your success as a sustainable viticulturist

The data tables that drive the maps can also contain links to documentation so you can access fertilizer content and manufacturer info, soil sample test results, growing notes, and more just by clicking on your map!
If you're just starting out and you know how to design your vineyard, the following topics can be mapped, measured, and reported so you can use the land in the best possible way:
  • contours
  • terrain
  • block layout with aspect
  • buffer zones for treatments and biodiversity
  • permit areas
  • and more

It's Your Vineyard, You Decide

There are a number of businesses that are in the business of telling you your business.

We are not in the business of advising on grape-growing best practices...you tell us what information you need to have tied to specific locations and we'll set up a spatial system for you.

We'll also provide data maintenance and online mapping as it suits you.

We're flexible, give us a call or send a message!
